  • Nancy Ruckstaetter - President, Treasurer

  • Scott Richardson - Board Member, Instructor

    Scott Richardson is a founding board member and former President of Lake Michigan Bible Institute. He is committed to personal and community growth in the grace of God through study of His Word and living a life of truth.

    Scott is an active Bible Study leader in the community and at his home church, Oakridge Community Church.

    He has worked 41 years in the Electric Power Generation industry for investor-owned utility companies, operating and training those who operate commercial power reactors.

    He has been married to his wife Cindy for 41 years, and also has six adult children.

  • Scott Reeve - Board Member, Instructor

    Scott Reeve is currently the pastor of Oakridge Community Church in St. Joseph, Michigan. In his close to 40 years of ministry, he has served in youth ministry in both a local church as well as parachurch setting.

    He was also involved in an apologetics ministry, but for the last 30 years he has been in a pastoral role. He has served churches in California, Nebraska, and Michigan.

    He has also authored two books, The Great Divide and Labels: What God Thinks of You Does Matter.

    Scott is married to the love of his life, Sherry, and they have four awesome children, two wonderful daughters-in-laws, and three grandchildren that they adore. Scott enjoys studying theology, playing golf, classic rock music, along with various other areas of interest.

    Scott has a PHD in Divinity from Andersonville, and a Master's in Theology.

  • Mark Cowell - Instructor

    Mark grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, and earned a B.A. from Cedarville University along with an M.Div. from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

    He met his future wife while in college. They got married shortly after graduation and have been married for 46 years. Mark has two grown daughters and five grandchildren.

    Mark pastored for 36 years: 10 years at a church in northeastern Ohio and 26 years at a church in southwest Michigan. He retired from full time ministry in 2019.

  • Sarah Reeve - Board Member, Online Instructor

    Sarah is a graduate of Cornerstone University and holds degrees in Digital Media and Creativity & Innovation. Her greatest joy is coming alongside fellow believers and helping them grow, discern, and discover who God has created them to be through the study of His Word.

    When she’s not in the classroom or in a board meeting, you can find Sarah serving in her church and leading worship, enjoying the outdoors, or working at a local bakery. Sarah loves baking sourdough bread and will never say no to hammock or hiking session.

  • Elliot Schwarze - Instructor

    Raised in the tri-state region of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa, Elliot Schwarze is a 2015 graduate of Emmaus Bible College where he graduated with a B.S. in Bible and Theology and Secondary Education. He began teaching at Grace Christian School in the fall of 2015.

    He currently attends Decatur Bible Church where he worked as youth pastor from 2017-2023.

    Mr. Schwarze and his wife Annie have four children. They enjoy raising their children, gardening, and fishkeeping.

  • Tom Lain - Board Member, Instructor

    Tom was born in Michigan and raised in various coastal towns (East, Gulf, West since his father was in the Coast Guard. He graduated High School in Petaluma, California (1974). After attending California Maritime Academy and Milwaukee School of Engineering, Tom enlisted into the U.S. Navy and attended Nuclear Power School. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz and did several Mediterranean cruises, NATO exercises off the coast of England and sailed the Indian ocean during the Iranian Hostage crisis in 1980.

    He settled in St. Joseph, Michigan in 1984 to work at Cook Nuclear Power Plant and retired in 2022.

    Tom has been married for 41 years to Valerie, who he met while attending college in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

    He is actively serving at his home church in Michigan, and has enjoyed teaching Sunday School and assisting with youth group for the past 20+ years.

  • Jim Agens - Instructor

    In 1980, James Agens responded to God’s call to serve Christ while attending a Missions Conference. Married to Debra in 1982, they attended Liberty University where Jim earned a BA in Cross Cultural Studies. Jim continued his education at Western Michigan University, earning an MA in Communications in 1987, and took several courses from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, IL.

    The Agens applied for missionary service with Trans World Radio in 1989, raised support and moved their family to Swaziland (now named Eswatini) in 1992. In 1996 they transferred to TWR’s European Regional Office and lived in Vienna, Austria for five years. The Agens returned to the United States and served with the International Council for Gender Studies (ICGS), a Christian curriculum publisher for five years. While there, he also taught Public Speaking courses at Navarro College in Waxahachie, Texas.

    Jim now lives in Benton Harbor, and is VP Real Estate for a property development firm. As President of CIS, and travels back and forth to Russia and Ukraine, partnering with national churches. In this capacity, Jim has had the privilege of teaching Bible and Mission Theology courses in the Bible School located in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

    Jim and Debbie celebrated 38 years of marriage in December 2020, and eight months later the Lord called Debra home to heaven. Jim has four grown children and three grandchildren.

  • Marlo Fritzke - Instructor

    Marlo Fritzke has been the pastor at First Baptist Church, in St. Joseph, the past 21+ years. He is married to Erika and has 4 adult children, and 3 grandchildren. Marlo graduated from North American Baptist College in 1980; North American Baptist Seminary in 1982, and attended Dallas Theological Seminary from 1982-1985. His greatest joy is to serve Christ and share Him with others in a clear, simple, and concise manner.

  • Timothy Zebell - Instructor

    Timothy is a husband, a father, a volunteer teacher and Bible quiz coach in his local church, and the Director of Training at LifePlan. As a former missionary to Asia for twelve years and the author of several books and Bible studies, Timothy is passionate about helping people understand the relevancy of God's Word in today's world.

    His goals are to help Christians discern truth from error, empower Christians to speak into cultural matters with relevancy, and to help Christians capitalize on the opportunities that these matters provide for sharing the truth about God and His gospel message.

  • Sydney Champion - Administrative Assistant, Secretary

    Sydney is a dedicated follower of Christ who serves her hometown of Benton Harbor, Michigan and her church family at Oakridge Community Church. She graduated from Calvin University in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in writing and a passion to help others with her abilities.

    During her free time, Sydney enjoys reading, hammocking, and watching the waves of Lake Michigan.
